Vague Language With No Specifics
What it looks like:
- “Eco-friendly materials”
- “Sustainable practices”
- “Better for the environment”
- “Conscious collection”
Why it’s a red flag:
These terms mean nothing. They’re not legally defined. They’re not measurable. They’re marketing fluff designed to make you feel good without proving anything.
The test:
Ask: “What percentage of the material is recycled? From what source? Verified by whom?”
If they can’t answer with numbers and names, it’s greenwashing.
✅ What honesty looks like (RE:FORM example):
“100% recycled polyester yarn sourced from ocean-bound PET bottles collected within 50km of coastlines in Southeast Asia, certified by Global Recycled Standard (GRS), with supply chain transparency reports published quarterly at reformdrop.in/transparency”
